Hackney Road

The existing space was a 30 sqm attic studio. We reworked it into a micro two bedroom home. Rather than keeping the plan open, we introduced new walls to make the apartment feel larger and more defined. The staircase was reconfigured and a curved corridor creates a sense of arrival, giving the home a sequence rather than a single room.

The kitchen is the social heart. A full dining table allows the space to shift easily between everyday living, working, and hosting with room for six when needed.

Throughout the apartment, small design moves build a sense of richness: yellow rubber flooring with underfloor heating, mirrors and built in joinery to extend perception, set-down bed spaces, handmade nettle fabric curtains, sculptural pendants, and a suspended MVHR unit within the bathroom ceiling.

It is a compact home, carefully choreographed to feel open, sociable, and generous beyond its size.
